.30-06 Pen
A Limited Edition Product
This unique, ball-point pen is hand crafted by John McFarland of Silver Fox Pens, who usually makes pens out of exotic woods with semi-precious stone inlays. John made the original 7mm Magnum Pens for us and now has crafted these pens using the venerable .30-06 Springfield cartridge.
Each pen is assembled from two brass cartridge cases. The pen tip is a .30-06 Springfield case and the top is a 243 Winchester case. To extend or retract the pen tip, just twist the two cases in oposite directions.
The business end of the pen is actually a real FMJ bullet crimped into the .30-06 case mouth. John uses a single stage reloading press and crimp die that he set up just for making these pens. Watch out for the imitators! You can tell the real thing by looking at the tip. If it isn't a real FMJ bullet crimped into the case mouth, it isn't a Silver Fox pen!
The brass is uncoated and will develop a unique patina with time and handling. If you like it shiny, it is easily polished with any quality brass polish. Just don't be tempted to toss it into your vibratory polisher!
The solid brass pocket clip is styled like a rifle for added detail.
These pens are hand crafted to order, so we only have a few of them at a time. Your order may be delayed while John builds your pen. Usually this only takes about a week, but can take longer depending on John's schedule.
